Fleming Island High lifter Paige Falconer finished fourth in the 110 pounds division and must wait to see if her total is enough to get to the state meet roster.

Staff photos by Randy Lefko Clay High’s Kristen Carlisle battled to a five pound win at her region 1-2A championship and will need to be wary of her competition at the February 5 state meet in Kissimmee.

Middleburg High lifter Neva Clinkscale finished second in region 1-2A and will be a top contender for a state title in Kissimmee on February 5.

2013 Clay High senior 170-pounder Jake Bain pinned Fleming Island senior Nick Baliya to put the Blue Devils ahead in the penultimate match in a wrestling win over Fleming Island.

2014 Fleming Island High sophomore John Martorano, on bottom, avenged an earlier season loss to Clay junior Adam Breindel at the Clay Rotary with a pin in the 2014 Tussel of Muscle. Breindel continued on to win two state titles.

2015 Deja Vu? Clay High senior Julian Summa, left, will be facing a second Detwiler in the Tussle of Muscle 2016 with the younger brother of David Detwiler, shown here in 2015, Paul Detwiler is set to face Summa for a second time this season. David Detwiler beat Summa in 2015 with Paul having beat Summa at the Kiwanis Invitational earlier this season at Bishop Snyder High School.

Spartans continue to a region semifinal match with St. Josephs on January 26 and a possible region final on January 29.
