St. Johns Country Day School miler Ben Kailes, left, is top prospect to medal in Wed., April 25 region 1-1A track championships and earn a spot at the Class 1A state meet in May. Kailes, seeded second in the region 1600 by a h alf second, joins teammates Courtney and Kendall Sage, sprinter and hurdler, Corey McDaniels 400, Juliet Moody 800 and Matthew Stratton 3200 as Spartans in the mix for a state meet bid.
Ridgeview High high jumper Jaden Roy is second ranked in the high jump for the region 1-2A track championships to be held Wed., April 25 at Florida High School in Tallahassee. Ridgeview has triple jumper Jacolbi Sampson as district champion and top region seed with Clay discus thrower Kelley Catlett, the district champion, a contender for a top four in her event. Clay hurdler Samantha Franco, second at districts in the 300 hurdles, could get a top four finish and advance to state.
